How do we define insomnia?
Insomnia is the term used to describe a lack of quality sleep. either with age to get sleep, difficulty staying asleep or wake up too early and that it is not possible to get back to sleep.
What are the effects of insomnia?
People who suffer from poor quality sleep tend to be irritable, inattentive, lacks energy and accident prone.
It is more likely to suffer from depression, heart disease and strokes.
Continued sleep deprivation causes changes in the business and the timing of important hormones that melatonin, cortisol, leptin, thyroid hormones and Prolactin. It has been in studies demonstrated that this pattern of hormonal changes have also been seen in people suffering from depression and age-related chronic conditions such as obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure.
This is just a foretaste of the negative effects of insomnia, and that is without mentioning the negative effects it has on our immune system, or the incredible impact of daytime fatigue on the existence of "accidents". Remember Chernobyl or Exxon Valdez.
What is rest?
No one really knows exactly how sleep works. For centuries, as it was thought that the rest was just a neutral State of mind and body, but modern science is beginning to recognize the many positive affects a natural has a good night's sleep.

The brain's metabolic rate and temperature decreases allows repair of certain brain cells that would otherwise be difficult to recreate.
In our deepest sleep during rapid eye movement (REM), we do most of our dreams. Many studies have been carried out and they have shown that what we do and learn during the waking hours must be processed and consolidated before it is too memory and is reflected in our abilities. The process of sleep increases this to an invaluable way.
Is so what most important cause of insomnia?
There may be many reasons why we cannot sleep well, but the main cause of insomnia is just stress.
Our lives, as well as other organisms, are held mostly in an optimal state of balance. Our hormonal secretions, fluid levels, temperature, and so on are kept in balance so that the mind and body can perform at its peak.
"Flight or fight" response when faced with a predator is the most common example of a stress response, but it can also be triggered by the much less profound events that is looming, noise or darkness. But even less obvious is that stress response may be that events such as fear, anger and even extreme joy.
Sometimes, we live in a permanent state of stress response and prolonged States of stress can leave the body in a constant state of alarm and imbalance.
Process sleep runs contrary to the effects of the stress response. Covered by sleep means the gradual closing down of the system, a reduction of metabolism and the cessation of preparedness measures.

Stress is the main cause of insomnia.
Hormones secreted as a result of stress response excite the body's systems. When stress is chronic, we hyperaroused. When we can't we sleep hyperaroused.
